I read this series while in high school and it is the only series I ever wanted to purchase . That was 50+ years ago. I have read lots of books since then but I was so excited for Amazon to put it on my kindle - at least the first two books. The author is amazing in her writing and making a reader feel like you know the characters. I miss the characters when the book ends and can't wait to see the next generation. I hope the rest if the set will come to kindle. I have the books but a kindle I can read at night etc. I like to get away from everyday prob!ems and be entertained. Elswyth Thane has done that with the Wil!iamsburg Series!

I enjoyed reading this book so much, that I read it a second time. The story provided an insightful look into life experienced by Virginians during the Civil War. Looking forward to reading more books in this series.
I love this series - will the others be coming out, soon?

"Yankee Stranger" covers the Day/Sprague family through the Civil War. We meet Eden and Sally and Sue (sisters) and their cousin Sedgwick...who I'm certain has siblings, I just can't remember who they are. In addition, we have Cabot Murray, the Yankee in the title.

Drama ensues. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be in at least one more battle than in Gone with the Wind (but with one less baby.).

If you enjoy historical fiction, this is a nice series. The first, Dawn's Early Light, takes place during the early American period in Virginia (chiefly Jamestown and Williamsburg), in the years leading up to and including the American Revolution. This book centers on the Civil War period. The series is well researched, and I enjoy the dialogue. The books are unquestionably dated, and modern sensibilities may certainly find the rationale given for slavery unconvincing. Luckily, the following books in the series are mainly set in England and New York and center on other eras in American history the War with Spain and WW1 and WW2.
I'm not sure this or any review will be useful, since the books are no longer available in the US. I wish they were, as I'd like to own them.
It is a well written book that introduces you to the Day family just as the civil war is about to impact and change their beautiful lives forever. I love this family and how they stand by one another as they endure the destruction of their lives and struggle to maintain there decency as their beloved Eden Day falls in love with Cabot.Murray , a Yankee Stranger. I could not put it down as I once again got loss in this.old fashion romance with the civil war as a back drop.
I love this book. 30 years have past since I last had the good fortune to read Thanes 7 book family series. It is as fresh and interesting as I first found it. Based on continuing saga of 2 families who struggle through the revolutionary war and then the civil war it is a tribute to all who have come before us in America. Don’t miss this book. I wish would ebook the rest of this series!
I wish so much that more of Elswyth Thane's books were available on the . Only the first two books of her Williamsburg series are available right now. I've loved her books for about 50 years and would buy them all if I could. If you love the Civil War Era and a very good love story — Yankee hero & Southern heroine — don't hesitate to purchase this book. While you're at it buy the Revolutionary War novel, Dawn's Early Light.
