15 Minutes was a suspenseful YA read and I seriously didn't know how the character, Lara, was going to get out of the mess she had created! The story had me hooked until the ending and not every book can do that. The story really gets the reader to think about how life would be different if we could only go back and change things. But to change things would mean nothing would be the same and anything can go wrong. Lara's life was so different when she went back and it seemed more of a chaotic life than before. There was confusion as to who she loved too. In her new life, she found that she had another boyfriend than her past life and she yearned for him. But as she spent more time with the new boyfriend, she realized that she loved him. This was a great story.

Holy cannoli, this book sure did blow me away! We are thrown directly into the action almost as soon as the book begins. Within just a few pages, we see Lara complete what she sets out to do -- use fifteen minutes in the past to save her mom. So then what?

Well, it is a classic case of 'be careful what you wish for'. Lara finds the world she expected with her mom alive is MUCH different than she imagined. Her boyfriend and father, two people she loved most in her previous life suddenly aren't in the picture anymore. She has to navigate through her new world trying to put the pieces of her life back together.

The complications and tangled web that the time travel creates is just plain ooey-gooey goodness. It's like eating a homemade cinnamon roll right out of the oven -- the package kind can never compare. I did keep saying "oi, that's going to create a paradox", so obviously I've been watching too many time travel shows (coughdoctorwhocough), but I loved that it was almost too confusing to figure out. Time travel is SUPPOSED to be mind boggling.

I really enjoyed the character of Lara. She was smart and thought on her feet, but she was still a teenager who made mistakes. I loved how Cooper described the mind-meld of the two timelines Lara was in. How the memories almost downloaded into her brain, making the two realities bleed into one another. How she instinctively knew how to do some things in her new timeline, just because that was her innate behavior, versus learning the truth through the memories. And then the losing the old memories as the new memories became reality. I just can't contemplate having a memory of something that I never actually was present for. I definitely get why it causes your brain to bleed!

There was some romance in the book, but it was minimal, never really detracting from the story. I think in this instance the love triangle was absolutely warranted and think things played out perfectly.

The synopsis calls this book "high octane" and that is really the perfect way to describe it. The fast-pace never slows down and you will find yourself wrapped up in the middle of the story almost immediately. The book goes beyond science fiction, into a thrilling mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat. Oh and, can we just mention that beautiful cover for a moment. Fantastic. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and can't wait to see more from Cooper.

First of all, look at that cover. It is absolutely gorgeous! I love this cover. It’s definitely one of my favorites this year. But let’s not judge a book by its cover.
So Lara’s mom died when she was young, and now she has 15 minutes to go back in time and change the course of history. I lost my dad when I was young, and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve dreamed of a chance like this, to go back to the past and change those few minutes that could save my dad’s life. It wouldn’t change me much, right?
Lara finds out that things aren’t the Happily Ever After she imagined they would be, instead, things are completely flipped upside down, inside out and 180. And the best part? Someone is hunting her down because they figured she can change the future.
This book was pretty darned amazing. The only problem I had was trying to wrap my head around the old timeline merging into the new timeline. I loved Lara for trying to save her mother, for having the courage to let go of her old life and embrace the new (though, let’s be honest, did she ever really have a choice?). I grieved a little for the loss of the relationship between Rick and Lara.
As confusing as this story was at times, it’s like Dr Who said, “People assume that Time is a strict progression of cause to effect but actually from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint, its more like a big ball of wibbly-wobbly-, timey-wimey…stuff.” I haven’t seen that quote shown more accurately than in this series by Jill Cooper.
I loved this book! It arrived on my door step yesterday, and today I couldn't put it down! I am anxious for the next one to come out! I found this Author through a blog I follow, and read the description, and was captivated right away! It's a fun, fast read!
