It's so nice that Benny (Kason) finally found his true love. He'd known Jess for a while as she always waited in him and his friends at their bar, Aces. When he noticed her flinch when he took her arm he decided to investigate and make sure she was okay. Finding out she was being abused he rescued her and moved her into his home. Going from friends to lovers made this a sweet story. Her abuser goes after them and the team helps save them both. I recommend this entire series.

4-4 1/2 stars. At first I was not too crazy about the h--I just could not understand her actions as to her living conditions. I understand the sometimes, people need to deal with the cards they are dealt, and some situations are beyond rational control, but since she was not in love with the guy she was living with, I just was not finding her actions believable. I thought the author did a very good job unweaving her story, and I really ended up enjoying her character. This one actually ended up one of my favorite books of the series. I liked the H and h together, and I really enjoyed the build up to their relationship. The reader gets what they expect from this author--protective alpha male leads, smart, strong heroines, lots of suspense and action with the "damsel in distress" thing going on, spicy sex scenes, and an entertaining secondary cast that we met throughout the series. Although the book stayed true to form with the rest of the series, I did think it had enough of a difference to make it interesting. I also liked how the extra characters played their role, but did not take away from the main couple.
Jessyka has been working at at "Aces" a bar the fellas and now their women like to frequent for months..lately though, the once vibrant and energetic woman is but a shell of herself. Benny notices the changes in Jessyka and decides to intervene. At the time, he just wanted to be her friend, help her out of a situation, but as time goes on, he and Jessyka build on that friendship and fall in love. Now if he can only help her escape her abusive ex, all would be good.

Unlike the other books, this couple starts off as friends and you watch how their love builds. Sure, there's the immediate attraction, and plenty of caveman "your mine", but Benny's love is more subtle. Jess is just as kick ass as the other women, but she needs a little more confidence to bolster herself.

This was yet another good book. Even with the subject matter and the brief violence, it isn't as "heavy" as the others, but heavy nonetheless. Moving on to book 7.
Protecting Jessyka is the latest book in the SEAL of Protection series. Once again Susan has done a wonderful job in creating a wonderful balance of romance, suspense and action.
Kason ( Benny) is the last one of the seal team still looking for love. He thinks there is no way he will ever as be as lucky as the rest of the guys and is considering transferring to another team.
Jessyka has been working at Ace's and has wishing she could find a guy the way the SEALS treated their women. But her ex now roommate always was telling her she was nothing and a cripple. No one would want her and everyone makes fun of her behind her back.
But when things changed Benny notices, and one night while at home it just wasn't something he could shake. He needed to go to Ace's and see Jessyka and find out why she has been closing herself off more, to make sure things were ok.
What will he find? Will it be nothing. or is something happening that Benny won't be able to walk away from?
This woman is pure magic on paper or ereader. I love everything I've ever read by her (yes, I've read all of her books) and I know that will never change. I literally happy danced when I learned Jessyka would find her HEA with one of the guys. Jess is the group's usual waitress at Aces, their regular hangout spot. She's always friendly, without crossing any lines, she's good at her job, and genuinely seems to like working with the public. However, Kason, aka Benny, has started to notice that Jess isn't her normal self and acts like she's hurting, aside from her usual limp which has never impeded her job. After worrying over Jess and the recent changes in her behavior, Benny feels guilty that they haven't gotten to know her on a more personal level since they're always seeing her. I love that Jess has a handicap in regards to her hip, something she's dealt with since birth, as it shows her strength and determination. I also fell in love with Benny even more as he shares with Jess what he sees when he looks at her. *le sigh* You'll see what I mean and melt into a puddle of goo. I'm still scraping myself up a little from the floor.

Jess is stuck in a horrible situation, yet, she's staying for one reason only, Tabitha. That's all I'm saying on that. You'll have to read for the full effect and all the flipping feels Susan gives us. *cries* Jess sees how loving the guys are with their women and doesn't think she can have that. Right now she's just trying to get by day by day. Enter Benny. They become friends and she starts to trust him. When the unimaginable happens, she calls him and he rushes to help her. Their friendship is slowly turning into something more, something beautiful, and lasting. But first, Jess's past needs to be dealt with. A smackdown is given, someone is rescued, love is found, and a future is started. But, Susan never does the expected, so enjoy the twist. It's brilliant and it was needed for numerous reasons. If you haven't read this series before, I highly recommend starting with book 1, Protecting Caroline. Trust me, you'll want to read all of them. Then you'll join me as I'm huddled in a corner, bawling incoherently as I await Tex's story, Protecting Melody, which is due out in September. You'll also want to thank me for the recommendation. I love Gift Cards. ;-) Go now and get your SEAL on. Make sure you have the time to read it beginning to end, because you'll seriously want to ignore life as you enter this world. Then you'll never want to leave this world. *fangirling*
